No go this weekend

The weather was looking bad for Sunday the 6th, but Saturday the 5th looked doable. With reports of a bite of BFT in the 100 lb class, just 5 miles off Hatteras Light house on Friday in just 3o feet of water had made my decision to head out. We departed the dock at 6:15 am with 14 kt winds out of the southeast. Heading out the waves were 3 to 4 ft. The radio was starting to get busy with chatter of the fleet out ahead of us of  how the weather was changing fast. Reports of waves over 9 feet were building up out past the Shoals, and water temps only in the mid 40's in 50 fath. There were no signs of a bite inshore as of Fridays reports, so we started to head out.  The further we got out the bigger the waves got and the colder the temps. With safety first, Captain Pete made the right decision to turn back and head in. There are little big boats and big little boats as the fleet Captains on the radio were saying, meaning even the big boys over 50 foot were being tossed around today.

The Rockhound is booked for Sunday the 13th, and has openings for walk ons for Saturday the 12th.

Tight lines,
