Meat Charter to Triangle Wrecks

Ok, I have been getting call's for a wreck fishing trip.

So next Saturday 10/13, RockHound Charters 

will depart from Salt Ponds Marina 

at 4 AM and return by 5 PM

Will be targeting Black Sea Bass, flounder and tog.

Have 3 open spots, Cost is $200 per angler.

The "RockHound" is heading to the Norfolk Canyon 

Saturday Morning  to do some Deep drop Fishing.

We will be pulling out of Salt Ponds Marina  

Saturday at 3 AM and returning around 5 PM.

We will be targeting Blue line Tile, golden

Tile, Grouper, Black Sea Bass and bailing 

for Mahi are all on the menu for Saturday.

The weather looks great, 

Winds WSW 8 to 10 knots

and

Seas E 2 feet at 10 sec.

The "RockHound" has 2 spots open for 

walk on's Saturday 10/6, cost is $200 per angler.

"Who's ready for Rock Fish Season"

"New Look & Back up and Running"

         RockHound Charters is almost done with new look to

      our web site. We have added your group catches of the 

      2011/2012 Rock fish Season to our home page for all to

      see. Also, go to our Rates page for more Pic's as well.

            We had a great 2011/2012 rockfish season and look 

        forward to an even better 2012/2013 season. We have

       made a few changes for this season, to better serve you

       aboard the "RockHound". 

    Starting with our Mate, Capt. Zack Huffman will be 

 back this year as our full time Mate for the up coming

Rockfish Season. For those of you who had the privilege of 

fishing with Zack last year, know he is educated and a 

dedicated  professorial fishermen. And we welcome him 

aboard the "RockHound".  

  RockHound Charters will be running out of Salt Ponds Marina

from now til Dec. 31st, then move to VB Fishing Center Jan. 1st

for the ocean rockfish season. 

  We are now booking charters for the up coming season, and a  "reminder" we book fast for the weekends. So, call Capt. Pete today to insure your charter date.

Offshore Tuna action

"Nice Day Tuna Fishin"

I have been working a lot, (my real job)

so I haven't been getting out much lately.

Had the weekend off and got a charter together

for some Tuna action, its time to get offshore.

We ran to the 400 line, 40 fathoms and worked

are way north, our first hit came with 4 lines

going off with 3 false abbys and 1 YFT.

             Worked our way to about the 420 line, 45 fathoms

            and had a double go off. Managed to and 1 more YFT

            We stayed between the 420 and 400 line and picked

            at them all day.

                                          

                   Than at about noon, the short bare ballyhoo rig

             on the 30 wide goes off. Got lines in fast and started

            to back down to get line back on the reel. After about

            10 min. into the fight we get a look at what we have

            hooked in to, its a Big Blue Marlin dancing across the

            water about 200 yds behind the boat. Than as fast as we

           hooked him he was off, line showed his bill cut the leader

           about 2 feet from the hook.

                 Looks like there's going to be tuna around for a

               little while so lets go fishing, will be running charters

               for the next 2 to 3 weeks. Call Capt. Pete to book

Back in the Water

"She's ready for Action"

Well, after some well needed repairs and

upgrades the "RockHound" is back in the water.

Do to the amount of time to complete all the service,

the "RockHound" will not be going to her Hatteras

doghouse at this time. We will be running charters

out of Salt Ponds Marina til Jan. 1st.

We are going to be chartering trips for;

Red and Black Drum

Flounder

Cobia

Spade fish

Offshore deep drop fishing

Offshore Sport Fishing

for the summer months to the start of Rock Fish Season.

"The bite is on"

Just got off the phone with a buddy boat

on the water, says the rockfish are here and biting.

He has 4 in the box and missed 2 hits all in

the last hour. Fish are 38" to 42" long.

Great News, the RockHound will be out on

the water Friday. We still have some opens

"Great Days on the Water"

The Rockhound Blog is back up and running.

Well we have been out 2 days this week and

have put our limits in the boat both days.

After getting our limits between 9am and 10am

each day, the RockHound headed in to

drop off our catch and head out for some

Blue Fin Tuna action.

No tuna's but C&R over 30 rocks 10 miles out.

The rockfish season is still kicking and looks

like its going to be around for a little while.
